D115 Tank Design
Let's Talk tanks: Why might a D115 Tank Be the Right Choice?
With unmatched durability, reliability, and life expectancy, D115 post-tensioned concrete tanks are prestressed to minimize cracking, leaking, and infiltration. Depending on need, a D115 tank can be built above or below ground and are customizable to meet nearly any size requirement.

Reliability
Tendon Durability and Corrosion Protection
Post-tensioning steel tendons are a strong and reliable option for reinforcing structures. They have a high ultimate strength of 270 ksi, compared to 60 ksi for conventional steel. Additionally, the tendons in our tank designs are normally electrically isolated within plastic ducts and have three layers of corrosion protection, making these tanks durable and long-lasting. The benefits of prestressing include balancing loads and counteracting bending in slabs from applied loads.
Resiliency
Attention to Structural Details
By using advanced techniques such as restraint mitigation, staged tendon stressing, circumferential tendons, and proper finishing and curing materials, we can significantly reduce cracking and ensure more uniform compression in all concrete elements. Not only does this improve the structural integrity of the tank, but it also helps prevent future maintenance costs and potential safety hazards.

Efficiency
Circular Tank Shape
Circular structures are the strongest geometrical structures. The cylinder’s stability and efficiency with retaining liquids through hoop tension allows for large prestressed concrete floor and roof slab placements. Round tanks are also easier to keep clean than those with corners.
Longevity
Prestressed Concrete by Post-Tensioning
By using high-strength steel prestressing tendons within all primary concrete elements, along with supplemental conventional reinforcing steel, we can achieve both compression and high strength in the concrete in all directions. This results in relatively crack-free water-tight construction with material and weight savings because thinner concrete sections can be used. Furthermore, soil-structure interaction is considered in the analysis, allowing for slight differential settlement movements while maintaining a residual compression in the slab for water tightness.

Durability
Cast-in-Place Concrete
Using standard form panels on site or contractor-fabricated curved forms and flexible joint locations, we can control concrete wall placement sizes and minimize joints to prevent shrinkage cracking. The strength and durability make these tanks ideal for buried use, providing insulation and seamlessly blending into the surrounding landscape.
