RESPEC provides geothermal well design and drilling engineering services including casing design, workover design, rig and equipment selection, detailed drilling procedures, permit preparation, and operations execution.

Well Planning

A successful drilling project starts long before dirt starts moving. By integrating all available data into a comprehensive site plan and conceptual model, RESPEC geologists and drilling engineers offer a complete range of well design and planning services that help clients lay a foundation for success.

Our services include:

Geochemical analysis of active geothermal manifestations, such as temperature, electric conductivity, pH, flow, dissolved gases, odors, and precipitates in fluid
Review of geological data, such as cross sections, fault kinematics, and alteration mineralogy
Review of geophysical data, including magnetics, gravity, magnetotellurics, and micro-seismic monitoring
Review of geographical data, including maps, GPS, drone surveys, and existing regional and local structures
Hazard and risk assessments

Well Construction

By providing supervision and engineering oversight, RESPEC’s geothermal drilling team takes the sting out of well construction management. Our on-site teams provide recommendations and operational oversight while coordinating needs between management and outside service companies to keep projects on time and on budget.

Well Drilling

Procurement packages and contract approaches can vary and change the risk profile from one project to the next. Often working alongside a project's funding entity, RESPEC helps clients manage this complexity by acting as Owner's Engineer to contract for design and implementation services throughout the drilling, construction, and maintenance processes.

Vetting and negotiating contracts with equipment and service providers
Engineer/Procure/Construct (EPC)
EPC/Manage (EPCM)
EPCM/Operate for a period before transfer to client

Well Maintenance & Problem Well Intervention

Wells occasionally require major repairs or modifications to restore, prolong, or enhance flow capacity. RESPEC's geothermal drilling engineers and on-site supervision personnel help clients manage the most challenging and costly problems that accompany geothermal drilling, workovers, and well-field maintenance.
